Summer Sundays--more dr. seuss in 2014
In the summer months (July and August) there are a couple differences in how Sunday morning looks. We meet a half hour earlier at 10 AM. Nursery care is provided every Sunday. Most Sundays the children are invited to a one room schoolhouse style learning environment with Dr. Seuss books as the central story. We have multiple copies of the story for the week, the older children help the younger children read along encouraging reading and modeling service.
We begin on 6 July with I Can Read With My Eyes Shut exploring the many ways we read. The story, discussion and activity focus on our first principle "Everyone is important" and third principle that affirms "our freedom to learn together and search for what is true". The breadth and variety of the world around us is part of our exploration activity.
