4-6 Our Whole Lives
The class has completed the first four sessions "Sexuality and Values", "Family Relationships", "Puberty: Physical and Emotional Changes" and Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation". They are working on Session 5, "Lovemaking and Reproduction"as of 6 October. Students should have completed the reading indicated in HomeLink 4 with their parents. Every 4-6 OWL student was given a red folder with all the HomeLinks and student handouts included.
The reading assignments are all for 4-6 Our Whole Lives resource book, It's Perfectly Normal. The sections to have read for the 10 November class, Lovemaking and Reproduction, are "What is Sex? in Part 1 of the book and "Families and Babies", in Part 4. The sections that participants need to read for each class are listed in the HomeLink for the week.
To enrich the children's experience after class and deepen their understanding as well as that of the parents, The Parent Guide to Our Whole Lives is required for all parents of OWL participants. Parents need to read through the section that coincides with session 5 for the 10 November class. Parents are the primary sexuality educators of their children. The Parent Guide is a useful tool to enhance the OWL experience for children and their parents.
